SIGNALWARE Corporation
Scott Ballenger
SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
Mr. Ballenger has over 14 years diversified embedded and computer
related engineering experience. Most of his career is software engineering
for application and embedded systems. He has provided technical leadership
for teams of engineers developing complex commercial and defense products,
and he has worked on leading edge research projects where he was a
principle contributor. His areas of expertise include software
engineering, real-time systems, and user interfaces.
He has been involved in the development of a wide variety of commercial
and defense projects ranging from missile defense to stage lighting to
biofeedback. He has been a guest speaker at MIT, Software Engineering
Institute, Carnegie-Mellon University and various industry conferences.
His experience covers real-time embedded software applications including
digital signal processors, computer graphic and image processing,
graphical and embedded user interfaces, serial communications,
communication protocols, simulation, and real-time scheduling analysis.
Mr. Ballenger has received awards for his development effort of Wybron's
Autopilot, which was awarded Product of the Year by the lighting industry
2 times in the same year.
Currently with SIGNALWARE, Mr. Ballenger is developing real-time
embedded and PC software, and device drivers for new digital signal
processor applications.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND SUMMARY
Mr. Ballenger's background includes in-depth experience in three
distinct areas of technology that interact to provide unique capabilities
for product and application development.
Software Engineering
- As an engineer educated in Computer Science, Mr. Ballenger has made
his career out of producing quality software. With a wide range of
software development assignments, he has excelled in technical
leadership, process control, and system implementation and integration.
With excellent communication skills Mr. Ballenger is comfortable working
alone or as part of a team, locally or remote.
Real-time Systems
- Mr. Ballenger works with a variety of real-time systems. His
experience includes real-time programming of embedded, PC, and
distributed applications. He has written fixed priority, preemptive
kernels in addition to developing applications for use with commercially
available real-time operating systems. Mr. Ballenger has pioneered the
advance of fixed priority, preemptive real-time scheduling analysis
techniques and Rate Monotonic Analysis (RMA) with the Software
Engineering Institute. He is a certified by the Software Engineering
Institute as an RMA instructor.
User Interfaces
- Throughout his product development tenure, Mr. Ballenger has designed
and implemented both windows Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) and
embedded button/LCD/LED/handheld user interfaces. He utilizes rapid
application development tools to efficiently iterate and prototype a
user-interface before writing any software. This method has proven to be
successful in defining interface requirements and reducing hardware and
software development costs.
