TMS320 C6211 DSP Development Board compatibility with Signalware Daughterboards

Hardware Operation

The C6211 DSK has a number of errors in the printed circuit card and the DSP itself (Silicon Revision 1.0). The problems include:

  1. Pullup resistors on the lines from the daughterboard to the memory bus buffer were ommitted. This often results in preventing the DSK from reseting when a daughterboard is attached depending on stray capacitance and on the loading that the daughterboard places on the leads.
  2. Silicon Errata 1.0.7 This leads to transfers of data stopping after a single transfer.
  3. Silicon Errata 1.1.14 Interrupt 0 incorrect in CIPR.
  4. Silicon Errata 1.1.17 Extra element transferred.

In order to correct problem 1), the C6211 DSK board must have an AED-100 daughterboard with a special modification. To obtain this modification, include option 1r6211 when the daughterboard is ordered. The charge is $15for the option. All other daugherboards are compatible with the C6211 DSK without a modification.

The silicon erata problems have work arounds built into the software supplied. However, the work around for problem 2) does reduce performance and in some cases very significantly.
